US FOSTER/ADOPT Adoptable children in foster care throughout the United States are waiting for their FOREVER FAMILIES! These children come with a wide variety of special needs but all have one thing in common: They all need adoptive families who can offer them love, security and who will advocate to obtain necessary services. CASI works cooperatively with adoption professionals in a number of states to find homes for these children. Is there a child waiting for you?
Training for the Foster/Adopt program can be difficult to obtain. We strongly encourage you to complete training before beginning the home study process as the home study cannot be completed without proof of training. GENERAL PROGRAM INFORMATION Parent Eligibility: Parents must be 25 years of age and at least 15 years older then the child. Married couples must be married or together for at least two years. Parents must reside in Idaho and at least one parent must be a United States citizen. There may be no more then 6 children in the home, including the adopted child. Home Study Requirements: All home studies must be provided by a CASI caseworker. This is to ensure continuity of services with networking and our follow-up post placement services. No Certified Adoption Professional's (CAP) home studies will be accepted. Length of Adopt Process: Average length is about 12-16 months Children Needing Homes: 2 to 18 years of age are available for adoption; boys and girls as well as sibling groups. There is desperate need for families who are able to care for children 7 years and up. Please check the waiting child's list to see children waiting for their forever families. Travel Requirements: Some travel in the United States may be necessary, depending on the location of your child. PRE-ADOPTION EDUCATION Adoptive families are required to attend 20 hours of training on specific topics related to the adoption of children with special needs. Most states require a training program entitled PRIDE, which is a 27 hour course. Currently it is difficult to obtain this training due to limited resources in Idaho and may take several months to complete. Again, we strongly recommend you complete training before beginning the home study process.
