![]() HAITI ADOPTION PROGRAM CASI is a Hague Accredited Agency. While Haitian birth mothers love their children, adoption is often the only option for their children to survive. Poverty has devastated Haiti and forced many overflowing orphanages to turn needy children away. In this poor country 80% of the population lives in abject poverty, and natural disasters frequently sweep the nation. GENERAL PROGRAM INFORMATION Parent Eligibility: Parents must be between 30-55 years old with at least one parent being 35 years old. Married couples must be married or together for at least ten years. No single men allowed through this program. Length of Adopt Process: Average length is about 16-24 months from the time the dossier is received. Children Needing Homes: 3 months and older at time of referral; generally healthy and special needs; sibling groups and/or unrelated children. Travel Requirements: 1 parent is required to travel to Haiti, parents spend 4-6 days in country. PRE-ADOPTION EDUCATION Adoptive families are required to attend 10 hours of training on issues related to adoption and parenting.
